16U Girls Intensity Retooled and Ready to go!

On Saturday the 16U Girls played in their Championship Division tournament in Hamilton.  After winning their pool the girls played against their LVC sisters Ignite in the quarter finals.  Ignite played with passion and as usual gave the girls a good battle but ultimately Intensity was able to prevail in two sets.  Next the team played against the Predators who had won their pool and were playing well.  After falling behind 20 -15, the girls fought back led by the setting of Simone White and the outside hitting of Maddie Lethbridge, Courtney Bardoel and Jessica Chung.  Ultimately, Intensity won in two hard fought sets and proved to themselves that they can win even when they are down by large margins. In the finals, Intensity played against MVC who had gone three with the team first thing in the morning.  Once again, the girls were down by a significant score but found a way to win in two. Clutch serving by McKenna Deering and Lexie Cronk really made a difference when the pressure was on.  The coaches were very pleased with the mental approach of the team and the solid contribution given by everyone. "The girls have worked hard and our new athletes have done a great job learning to play at this level and have fit in well" said Coach Rabley.  "Lindsay Kleuskens, Hannah Ibbott and Lexie Cronk are starting to make a real difference on our team and have allowed us to retool and get ready for the competitive part of the season.  Development within our own club is really important.  Last year, two of these girls were on our Fury team and one was on Ignite.  We really believe in giving those athletes who show potential a chance to play with the best."  Intensity will now move up to the Premier Division and look forward to competing with the best in Ontario.  Great job girls!
