First on the agenda for the Safe Sport Committee is a Policy Building Project. This project, led by Dave and Amanda, will begin in December 2022 and run through 2023 into the Ontario Volleyball Association's tryout window policy. Through informal research techniques of participant observation and situational interviews, members of the Safe Sport Committee will tour the spaces in which all of London Volleyball Club's programming operates (e.g., for developmental program sessions, exhibition matches, summer camps, and OVA competition events) to solicit an overview of how our programming is currently operating and speaking with voluntary participants to summarize feedback about spatial and cultural logistics surrounding safe sport contexts.
The objective of this project is to guarantee that beginning in our 11th season, during 2023-2024, the London Volleyball Club can faciliate and maintain an exceptional level of safety and better understand the safe sport needs of our LVC Family -- while serving as a role model to help other sport organizations commit to safe sport for years to come.
